THE COLOURS OF PERANAKAN GUO DA LI &

A TRADITIONAL CHINESE THEMED CEREMONY

In Chinese culture, Guo Da Li (过大礼) is an important event where the groom officially delivers wedding gifts to bride’s family on a chosen auspicious day to show his sincerity in marrying their daughter. For Natalie and Jared, a Peranakan themed Guo Da Li means doubling the happiness! Based mainly on Chinese traditions, their Peranakan Guo Da Li was one of the most fascinating and colourful one which highlights the grandeur of Peranakan elements while honouring much-treasured traditions and rituals.

For their Chinese Tea Ceremony, Natalie and Jared opted none other than a Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony that followed the main Chinese wedding traditions. It was an extravagant and wonderful in every way - a picture perfect couple dressed in Chinese 裙褂 (Qún Guà) and 长袍(Chángpáo), a festive setup with lion dance thrown in for good measure and out-of-the-ordinary decorations.
